Bottles at Beach
Quick -- how many beverage cans and bottles WON'T be recycled in the U.S. this year?

Close to100 billion, says the Container Recycling Institute...which means billions of dollars are thrown away annually through incineration, burial, or littering.

Connecticut Yankee Council MapThe Boy Scouts, and Habitat for Humanity affiliates in New Haven and Fairfield counties, believe that's wrong...and are doing something about it. They have established a "Scouts CAN" partnership to raise $50,000 by the fall of 2008, and enough by 2012 to build three Habitat houses...and also significantly improve the environment.
